 ABOUT THE GAME 

"Elemental Deck" is a traditional card game played with a regular set of cards (with jokers) its the spiritual successor to my favorite playground game from my youth, "rock paper scissors shoot anything you want to do" which played like a normal game of rock paper scissors but each player would pick a thing of their choice, and then decide what of the two sides would win. there was a flaw with this game, each side would always pick something lame and overpowered like "super omega everything destroyer that wins every time" leading to not that much of a fun experience. I decided to fix this flaw by changing the "anything you want to do" to a unique set of elemental powers. I also was inspired by aesthetic of the early 2000's design for the theme of the element power chart, with the y2k inspired font, and 3d spheres reminiscent of the old "how it's made" intro.   

  ➠ INSTRUCTIONS

Steps to play: Separate these cards from the deck so you have a pair of each unique card, one red and one black.  so one red ace, and one black ace, all the way to one red King and one black King, and finally one red joker and one black joker. TL;DR take one of each card listed on the element power chart, The suit does not matter, only the cards color.

  • each player selects 14 cards from this pile (exactly half) at random, and adds them to their hand. when each player is ready, its time to start! draw a card from your hand and place it face down in the center of the play area, or show it to your opponent. now, you must decide what elemental power would win against the other, this can vary between games. fire can totally beat water if you can come up with a situation where it does and your opponent agrees. 
  • when a player wins a battle, they collect the card their opponent played during that turn, and place it in their defeated pile.
  • If there is a draw, or a winner can not be decided on, both sides put their own cards in their personal defeated pile.
  • the first player to collect all of their opponents element cards wins the game.

 ➠ EXAMPLE BATTLE

Player One: *draws a Black 1/ace, a Fire Elemental*

Player Two: *draws a Black 7, a Cyber Elemental*

Player one: Alright, I have fire.

Player Two: Cyber.

Player one: Hmmm.. would this be a draw? I can't think of anything here.

Player two: oh I know! I break through your "Fire wall"

Player one: you win this one, I'm not even mad- that was clean haha.

Player Two: *adds the fire card to their defeated pile and returns the cyber card to their hand*

 ➠ SPECIAL RULES

there here are some special rules that aren't necessary but are fun if you'd like to include them in your game:

  • when drawing a "Cure" elemental card, you can swap it out for one of your defeated elements from your opponent's defeated pile, ending the turn, your opponent returns their played card to their hand.
  • when drawing a "Arcane" card, try not to use magic spells that overlap the powers of other elements! this is optional but its a fun challenge.
  • when drawing a "Time" card, your opponent shuffle must their hand without looking and draw a new card to fight you with. You must now predict what card they have drawn. If you are correct you win the battle, if you are incorrect you loose the battle.

 ➠ ELEMENTS

Flame: You can control and create bursts fire and can raise the temperature of the surrounding area
Plasma: You can control and create bursts of plasma and energy, through beams and arcs
Fungal: You can control and create Fungi, with the ability to take control of beings with your spores
 (Special Mechanic Card!) Time: You have a limited but powerful control of time. You can slow down time and predict attacks. you can make your opponent shuffle their hand without looking and draw a new card to fight you with. You must now predict what card they have drawn. If you are correct you win the battle, if you are incorrect you loose the battle.
Animal: You can Manifest and command animals, with the ability to speak to them.
Electric: You can control and create electricity. Even being able to summon bolts of lightning from the skies.
Cyber: You can effortlessly hack and control any machine or device around you in seconds
Poison: you can create and control poison attacks. Through poisons, toxins and radiation.
Nature: you can create and control plant life around you, manifesting tree shields, vine traps and thorn bushes, or even giant lily pads to traverse the water.
Illusion: a master of illusions, you gain the ability to turn invisible or transform into the likeness of other beings.
Frost: you can create and control ice and snow, manifesting sharp icicles and lowering the temperature of the area around you.
Kinetic: You are able to move and traverse the terrain at extreme speeds, and your physical attacks are lightning fast.
Wind: you can create and control powerful gusts of wind, being able to create tornadoes. You are even Capable of flight.
Water: you can create and control water, from bubbles to highly pressurized jets that can cut through steel.
Galactic: you can manifest alien geometry and energy allowing you to warp and change the space around you.
Crystal: you can create and control crystal formations and shards. Attacks that pass through the gems are slightly weakened but not nullified.
(Special Mechanic Card!) Arcane: you can cast small magic spells of all sorts, but they will only work if they don't classify under another elements abilities, time to get creative!
Undead: you can manifest and control spirits, demons and monsters to your aide.
 (Special Mechanic Card!) Cure: you can cure the wounds of yourself and others. By playing this card you have the option of taking one of your defeated element cards back from your opponents pile, replacing it with this one.
Rubber: you can create constructs of rubber and plastic, along with the ability to stretch your limbs
Sound: you can create and control sound waves, you can recreate any noise as a distraction, or create sonic boom shockwaves or deafening bursts of sound
Sand: you can create and manipulate sand and fossil, even being able to create sandstorms and spikes made from fossilized bone.
Food: you can manifest giant versions of food For use in combat and snacking. Looks like pain is on the menu!
Earth: You can create and control rock and soil,  you can manifest  terrain around  you to protect yourself, or send boulders flying your enemies way!
Dark: you can manipulate darkness. lowering visibility, you also have the ability to manifest dark bursts of energy from the void
Gravity: you can manipulate gravity. You can move objects (and people) with your mind and walk on walls and ceilings!
Metal: you can create and control metal, you can manifest blades and shields, along with clockwork tools and automatons
Light: you can control and manifest light, blinding enemies and attacking with prismatic flashes of energy from the heavens.
